Saturday Night Line Up
The Way Down Wanderers
Equal parts fast-paced and soulful, 5-piece modern-folk Americana act, The Way Down Wanderers draw listeners in with energy, originality and soulful generosity. Youthful and professionally trained, these young men captivate audiences with soaring instrumentals, foot stomping sing-alongs and a lively stage show and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged, off-stage encores and propensity for performing self-titled, “restSTOMPS” - free acoustic sets at rest & truck stops along their tour routes.
Hillsburn had a big year in 2016, releasing their debut full-length album, In The Battle Years, and winning a Canadian Folk Music Award for “New/Emerging Artist of the Year.” The Halifax-based quintet plans to unveil a follow-up album in May 2017.
The Roaring Borealis
The Roaring Borealis weave sweet, sweet harmonies with wailing fiddle solos, machine-gun washboarding and bass lines so thick they could stop bullets. You might call their sound roots, folk, or gospel, but they call it hurtin' music for happy people.
The Barrelmen were born of friendship and a mutual respect for one another's ability. Their musicality is matched only by their showmanship. Whether playing festival or intimate house concert they are engaging and suited to that audience. All four members write and perform, changing instruments and role of frontman with each song. By the last chorus of every song you will be singing along and tapping your feet. The Barrelmen truly are a band for all music lovers of all ages.
In With the Old
Two thirds of Northern Saskatchewan's In With the Old seamlessly combine raw talent and prairie camaraderie with a passion and respect for the music from the past. Young and dedicated, they take an extremely unique approach to memorable old time music through gifted harmonies and infectious songwriting – and though the songs and stories they tell are filtered with a small town perspective – these kids see through a colourful, worldly lens.
Brett Arnott and John Stewart
Brett & John are long time pals who find time to make music together in between radio karate lessons and backyard trampoline battles.
Matt Klassen and Nathan Fisher
Individually, Matt and Nathan have been playing music for many years. After many of late nights, and a few cold beers, Matt and Nathan have honed their craft of playing together. Influenced by many musical genres, these two will be playing an eclectic set of tunes. During the day these two fine gentlemen are both hard working carpenters. The Ramble crew will likely have to call for their assistance to fix the roof after they rock it off.
